Hello! I was born and raised in Compton, California. I have resided in Houston, Texas for 3 years. I have a daughter named Jasmine, who gives me purpose and reminds me to never give up! She is currently a Sophomore at Winston Salem State University; however, I graduated from NC A&T State University…AGGIE PRIDE! I love to travel, read, dance, and cheer my daughter on during ANYTHING she is doing!
Hey K Families! I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I am from Roanoke Rapids, NC. I chose to live in Greensboro after graduating from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (AGGIE PRIDE). While there I earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in English. I have previous teaching experience in kindergarten, first and second grades and as a Reading Intervention Teacher. This is my sixth year at Wilburn Elementary. In my spare time I enjoy singing, bowling, writing, spending time with my family and working with the youth at my church and through my mentoring program STARS (Sisters Together Achieving Real Success) and volunteering with my sorority Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. I am an author. I have two children’s books out Brave Bradley and The Kids in Room 325. I appeared on Wheel of Fortune! I have an anti-bullying nonprofit called Brave University.

Hi! This is my 4th year teaching at Wilburn Elementary School. Prior to teaching here, I taught Pre-K at a private learning center for 6 years. I received my teaching degree from East Carolina University in 2009. Go Pirates! I am married to my husband of 5 years, and we have two young children- Sadie (4) and Colton (20 months). Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading a good book, and gardening. Teaching is an absolute passion of mine. I truly enjoy working with children and helping them grow and be successful. I look forward to a successful year with you and your child.
I am a Jamaican teacher here on a Teacher Cultural Exchange program. I am here to share my culture with my students and help them become aware of places other than their community and country at large. I believe every child has the potential to be great and I will make it my objective to bring your child’s potential to life in a student centered classroom. I believe in a respectful classroom environment and treating each child as the unique individual he/she is.
Hello! My name is Miss Karen Branch and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! This will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten. I previously taught at Trent Park Elementary in New Bern and I am very excited to begin this year at Wilburn Elementary! I am from Knightdale, NC. I began my educational career at Lockhart Elementary, where I attended from kindergarten to 5th grade. I then went to East Wake Middle School and attended Knightdale High School. I then went to East Carolina University for my undergraduate degree, a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education. (Go Pirates!) I cannot wait to learn, explore, and grow with you this year!
